Sometimes, you just need a tool that fits.
A customer recently approached me needing a custom spanner for their swimming pool filter. They had a particular fitting they needed to loosen, but couldn't find the specific size they needed off-the-shelf.
That's where I came in!
Designing the First Version
Working from the measurements provided, I designed a spanner with notches to match the pool filter fitting.
The customer initially requested a full-circle design.
After testing the first version, they decided an open-ended spanner would be easier to position around the pipework.
The Finished Result
A simple, custom-made tool designed for one very specific job.
Because the spanner needed to withstand some force, I printed it in ABS plastic with 100% infill for added strength and durability.
While no 3D printed tool is indestructible, the material and print settings were chosen with longevity in mind.
